Dealing with stress (during corona)

Last time we zoomed in on the effect of an alcohol break on your mental toughness. And we told you that corona sometimes makes us less comfortable in our own skin. Fortunately, the numbers in the hospitals are falling and the vaccination is well underway. But those last stretches can be tough. We come with tips.

Dealing with stress during corona (and participating in IkPas at the same time)

  • Stay in touch with your environment as much as possible. So keep Facetime or call your parents, boyfriend, girlfriend, brother or sister and have that chat with the neighbor or that acquaintance on the street. It is now also allowed to receive four visitors a day at home.
  • Are you having a difficult moment? Talk about it with the people close to you.
  • Realize that it is normal to feel gloomy, anxious, or stressed at times. Accept these feelings, feel them and you will notice that they also go away.
  • Alternate effort with sufficient relaxation. Sport, walk, read a book, listen to music or do half an hour of yoga or mindfulness to unwind.
  • Write down one positive moment for yourself every day. This can also be something small, such as a nice walk with the dog or the sun shining on your face. By writing it down, you make the bright spots more visible to yourself and you will soon have a nice summary of positive experiences.
  • Stick to your daily routine, get up on time and go to bed at your usual time.
  • Accept circumstances you cannot change and focus on the things you can influence.
  • Turn negative thoughts into thoughts that give you more power. Don't think 'it's a tough time', but 'it's a tough time, but I'll get through this and it will get better'.
