Older and wiser = less moisture and more fat

Alcohol drains moisture from the body. This lack of moisture causes a hangover feeling. Whether you are young or old, you will lose water anyway when you drink alcohol. You only start with a fluid deficiency when you are older. Because as an older person you have less moisture anyway. In addition, the fat percentage also plays a role. As you get older, you not only lose water, but you also make more fat. This means that your body has less room to store and process the alcohol.

Breathe and sweat

If you've been drinking heavily, your body wants to break down and release the alcohol as quickly as possible. This 'discharging' takes place in different ways. About 10 percent of alcohol leaves the body through breath, sweat and urine. The other 90 percent is actively broken down in the body. Going back to that 10 percent: that is not a pleasant combination. A hangover is accompanied by a smelly breath and ditto armpits. Peppermint anyone?

You fight a hangover with water.

What a great evening. It's a pity that you have to pay for that cosiness with a big headache, upset stomach, dry mouth and flabby legs. What to do about the hangover symptoms?

-Drink a lot of water. But really a lot. Your body is severely dehydrated.

-Peace. Take your rest. Don't beat yourself up and listen to your body.

-Healthy food. Bananas naturally have an acid-inhibiting effect, which calms your stomach and reduces nausea. In addition, a banana for 70% consists of water and such a healthy golden yellow rascal helps to rehydrate your body.

-Fresh air. If you can and if you can: take a good walk. Don't forget your big bottle of water!
