Moreover, things are not going in the right direction: the EU wanted to halve the number of road fatalities between 2010 and 2020, but the figures have stagnated in recent years. Currently, approximately 22,700 people die in road traffic in the EU every year.

The demanded zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs in traffic is necessary, according to the European Parliament, because with an alcohol content of 0.5 you run 2.5 times more likely to have a fatal accident. Alcohol and drugs play a role in 25 percent and 15 percent of the crashes, respectively.

What do you do when you stop drinking alcohol? Eating a kilo of nails and screws thought a man from Lithuania. After the man presented with stomach pain, Lithuanian doctors made a special discovery. They found a kilo of nails, screws, nuts and bolts.

Not much is known about the man. Doctors have not yet been able to speak to him, according to the TV channel. They did find out that he had swallowed the objects within a month. Doctors believe he did that after he stopped drinking alcohol.

The patient's condition is stable. He is still in hospital under observation. He was also offered psychological help.
