This was it. The weeks are over. What did I learn from it?
Just drinking a glass of wine on the couch is unnecessary. You can relax in many other ways; going to bed early, reading and taking a bath are a few examples.
I will never be the ultimate relaxed mother with small kids…..with or without wine. And sometimes a glass of wine to immediately relax is fine. But we save that for the weekend or at parties. During the week everything goes according to plan and on the weekends we go for fun. And if that sometimes includes a glass of wine, fine.
I still enjoy a glass of wine at social gatherings. Very honest, because even at 39 years old, sometimes I'm just insecure and don't know what to say in a room with a lot of people. And is that bad? I'm sure…..but fascinating, that's just my insecurity.
We are always looking for a balance. We are humans so we will always make mistakes. But let's not be too hard on ourselves. Dry January, Damp January or Just January. Let's all be nicer to each other, with or without alcohol. Help each other, learn from each other, listen to each other.
I will definitely participate again next year and I think… that Dry September would also be a good challenge. Especially for (young) parents. Because after 6 weeks of children's holiday we all need a reset!
