In the Kennemerland region, 66% of adults drinks 1 or more glasses of alcohol per day, 20% is an excessive drinker and 11% is a heavy drinker. For many people, alcohol is part of it; at parties, during dinner, going out, after exercise. Often for fun, but also as a reward, because of stress or loneliness.
However, drinking alcohol has disadvantages for your health:
- Alcohol reduces the quality of your sleep
- The effect of medicines can be reduced or strengthened by alcohol
- Alcohol increases the risk of many cancers, such as breast cancer, mouth and throat cancer and colon cancer
- Alcohol contains a lot of calories
Take up the challenge and participate in IkPas in January (30 days) or in March (40 days) and experience what an alcohol break does to you. National research shows that participating in IkPas has many advantages. Not only does it save money, but many people also feel fitter and sleep better. Some people even lose weight.
GGD Kennemerland and Bleider support this action. At Brider, coaches are available who can help if you need tips or if things don't work out for a while.
