Update Drinking Prevention Agreement

Last week you read that two important organizations that participate in the alcohol prevention consultation have withdrawn. STAP and NVDI said that consultation is pointless, as long as the alcohol industry has a say at the table. State Secretary Maarten van Ooijen had no choice but to stop the consultations about drinking.

This situation leads to an impasse, the State Secretary concludes. The positions and interests of the alcohol producers and the health funds appear to be 'unbridgeable'. The Secretary of State finds it disappointing.

And now?

The consultation table has been lifted, but that doesn't mean it ends here. All parties remain individually committed to the goals of the Prevention Agreement. Van Ooijen remains in consultation with all parties.
