Moti55: a tailor-made personal trajectory
We take breaks together. IkPas gives you all the digital support you need. We are also available if you have any questions. Do you need extra and, above all, personal guidance? Then Moti55 might be something for you. This is an intervention in the form of face-to-face conversations for anyone struggling with alcohol problems.
If you want to take a good look at your alcohol consumption, if you want to drink less alcohol or are considering stopping, but you don't know how? Then you can request a no-obligation exploratory meeting with a prevention worker in your region to see what is possible. Hans Dupont, one of the initiators of Moti55, addiction expert and lecturer at Maastricht University, talks about the rationale behind it: “We built Moti55 on the basis of various successful prevention theories. The intervention has a number of fixed components, but we emphasize customization, a personal approach, autonomy and connection.”
What suits you
Every person is different, which is why every participant receives a tailor-made programme. Together with you, it is determined how and on what you want to work. The process consists of an average of 4 interviews. “During these conversations,” Hans adds, “you and a prevention officer draw up a plan of action. Two months after these meetings, a 'follow-up' meeting will take place during which the progress of your plans will be discussed. A plan can be: 'no more drinking during the week'. Or: 'switch to an alcohol-free alternative after 1 glass'. In addition, during the conversations, among other things, the drinking pattern, triggers, network, alternatives and the motivation to tackle alcohol consumption are discussed in more detail.”
|Did you know that a Moti55 is completely free? That is because it is funded by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
Also good to know: Moti55 is not just for the over-55s. This intervention is for anyone who could use help breaking their alcohol pattern.
Cut down considerably
Whether Moti55 works? According to Hans, that is certainly the case. Hans: “What we have investigated is that Moti55 participants drink on average half as much as before the start of the programme. The goal of Moti55 is that participants reflect on their alcohol consumption, adopt a healthier lifestyle and improve their quality of life, for example by becoming fitter or sleeping better.”
